How can stories be told through the manipulation and personification of nature to evoke emotion? I wanted to create nostalgic fairy tale like illustrations to bring a bit of light into the current situation (COVID-19). There was a lot going on in the world, and as a high school student who had to spend their last year remote, I was going through a pretty rough time. I wanted to make pieces that connect me to the happiness I got from the story books I held so dear in the past. One of my pieces tells the story of a family's home being destroyed due to the greed of others. Another shows the beauty that comes with unlikely friendships. These illustrations both pushed my skills and improved my outlook.
